Invisalign First for our Youngest Patients

Invisalign offers great orthodontic solutions for even the youngest of patients. Invisalign's advancers and clear aligners are  designed specifically to accomodate growing patients who don't have all of their adult teeth yet. They provide great results and make staying on top of your child's hygiene easy.

The Invisalign Treatment Process

During your initial consultation we discuss your lifestyle and orthodontic needs to evaluate whether Invisalign treatment is right for you.

Using the iTero® Digital Scanning System, we generate lightning-fast, accurate 3D digital images of your mouth. From there, we map out your precise treatment plan, including the exact movements of your teeth and treatment duration. You even get to see a digital rendering of your full treatment and preview your new smile.

Your custom aligners are made of Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack® material. For the best results, wear your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, brush, and floss.

As you wear each set of aligners, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into place. We usually recommend switching to a new set of aligners weekly and scheduling checkups every six weeks.

You’ve worked hard during treatment. Keep your smile healthy and vibrant with a Vivera® retainer, which is custom-made using the same innovative technology as Invisalign clear aligners.

Invisalign FAQs

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative orthodontic treatment system that uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually shift teeth into their desired position. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible and offer greater comfort and convenience.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign treatment at Sandy Smiles Orthodontics begins with a consultation with Dr. Zwickle and our smile team. Using advanced 3D imaging technology, a customized treatment plan is created, mapping out the precise movements of your teeth from their current position to the desired alignment. Based on this plan, a series of clear aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth snugly and comfortably. You will wear each set of aligners for about one to two weeks, gradually transitioning to the next set as your teeth move closer to their final position.

What are the primary benefits of Invisalign treatment?

One of the main advantages of Invisalign is its discreet appearance. The clear aligners are virtually invisible when worn, making them an ideal choice for individuals who prefer a more discreet orthodontic option. Additionally, Invisalign aligners are removable, allowing you to eat, drink, brush, and floss with ease. This flexibility in lifestyle contributes to greater comfort and convenience throughout the treatment process.

How long does Invisalign treatment typically take?

The duration of Invisalign treatment varies depending on factors such as the complexity of your case, the severity of your misalignment, and how well your adhere to wearing the aligners as prescribed. On average, treatment can last anywhere from six months to two years. During your initial consultation, your we will provide a personalized treatment plan, including an estimated timeline for your specific case.

Is Invisalign suitable for everyone?

Invisalign is suitable for most individuals with mild to moderate orthodontic issues, including crooked teeth, crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, and certain bite alignment issues. However, severe cases may require alternative orthodontic treatments. Dr. Zwickel will assess your specific needs and determine if Invisalign is the right choice for you.

Are Invisalign aligners painful to wear?

While you may experience some initial discomfort or pressure when wearing a new set of aligners, Invisalign treatment is generally more comfortable than traditional braces. Any discomfort typically subsides within a few days as your teeth adjust to the new aligners. Over-the-counter pain relievers can typically help alleviate any discomfort during this adjustment period.

How often should I wear my Invisalign aligners?

For optimal results, it's recommended to wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except for water), brushing, and flossing. Consistent wear ensures that your teeth are continuously moving towards their desired position.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Keeping your Invisalign aligners clean is essential for maintaining oral hygiene and preventing bacteria buildup. Rinse your aligners with lukewarm water each time you remove them and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and mild soap. Avoid using hot water or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the aligners.

How often do I need to visit the office during my Invisalign treatment?

Regular check-up appointments with your are necessary to monitor your progress and ensure that your treatment is proceeding as planned. Typically, appointments are scheduled every four to six weeks to assess your alignment progress and ensure you are ready to move on to the next set of aligners.

Can I eat and drink while wearing Invisalign aligners?

While you can drink water while wearing your Invisalign aligners, it's recommended to remove them before consuming any other beverages or foods. Eating or drinking with your aligners in place can cause staining, damage to the aligners, or compromise oral hygiene.

Will Invisalign aligners affect my speech?

Most people adjust to speaking with the aligners relatively quickly, and any speech changes typically diminish within a few days as they become accustomed to wearing the aligners.

How do I know if Invisalign is right for me?

If you're considering Invisalign treatment, schedule a consultation at our office and we will discuss your goals, concerns, and treatment options. During the consultation, your Dr. Zwickel will assess your orthodontic needs, answer any questions you may have, and determine if Invisalign is the best choice for achieving your desired smile.

Will I need to wear a retainer after completing Invisalign treatment?

Yes, retainers are typically necessary after completing Invisalign treatment to maintain the results and prevent teeth from shifting back to their original position. We will recommend a retention plan tailored to your specific needs and treatment outcome.
